Water Temperatures

It’s on. Freestones are hitting the right water temps.

As I’ve blogged before, water temperature is a key factor to trout behavior. And, it’s a fundamental driver of what your fishing strategy may be for the day.

As cold-blooded creatures, trout are greatly influenced by the water’s temperature.  For me, the magic temperature range is between 50 °F and 60 °F. Trout are very active then.

The good news is that freestones are getting there. Here is the Quinapoxet, for example:

Now, we do have a cold snap moving in, and temps. will vary. But, keep an eye on this type of data. With fresh trout, more active bugs, and ideal water temps., the fishing will be very, very good for you.
